Device Apps

The Device Apps menu in MSPControl provides a centralized overview of all software installed across Autopilot-managed devices. This interface ensures administrators have complete visibility into application versions, vendor details, and device distribution.

Application List

Each entry in the Device Apps list includes:

  • Name – Application name (e.g., Adobe Acrobat, 7-Zip).
  • Versions – Installed versions of the application across devices.
  • Vendor – Publisher or developer of the application.
  • Device Count – Number of devices where the app is installed.
  • Updates Disabled – Status indicating if automatic updates are turned off for that application.

Controls

Administrators can manage applications directly from this page:

  • Export to Excel – Generate a report of all applications for auditing or compliance purposes.
  • Bulk Actions – Enable or disable application updates across selected devices.
  • Search & Filter – Quickly locate applications by name or vendor.

Use Cases

Typical scenarios for using Device Apps include:

  • Identifying outdated or vulnerable software that requires patching.
  • Disabling updates for applications that must remain at a specific version (e.g., legacy compatibility).
  • Auditing installed applications for license compliance and security requirements.

Best Practices

  • Regularly review application lists to detect unauthorized or risky software.
  • Use the Export to Excel feature to maintain compliance and auditing records.
  • Enable updates for applications handling sensitive data (e.g., browsers, PDF readers) to reduce vulnerabilities.
  • Leverage bulk update controls to maintain consistency across the entire device fleet.
